Abstract: Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs) provide a common metric to gauge research maturity. This article explains TRL-based evaluation and strategies to foster academia-industry collaboration, illustrating each TRL stage with a solar-driven water splitting example and highlighting a bridging plan from TRL3 to TRL5 to facilitate joint research.
